My Story
As a kid, I was obsessed with short animated stories — the colors, the rhythm, the simplicity. Shows like Chris,
Trish and Balti Boy would leave me completely mesmerized. I’d sit there thinking, one day, I’ll make something like that.
Somewhere along the way, that dream got buried under the weight of “real life.” But one day, I decided to dig it
out again. It wasn’t easy — my art wasn’t great, my confidence was worse. But I thought, fine, I’ll learn. So I
joined graphic design in college.
In my first year, I was busy figuring out software and tools, until I suddenly realized… I wasn’t drawing. So in
my second year, I started learning how to draw again. I was also experimenting with a thousand different things at
once, but I made sure I drew for at least an hour every day.
By my third year, I was working as a communication designer at a marketing agency while still finishing college.
Life was chaotic — I barely had time to draw. My job was mostly branding and social media, and although I enjoyed
parts of it, I missed storytelling and illustration badly.
I tried to squeeze in art on weekends, but most of the time, I was too exhausted. That’s when it hit me how much
I missed making things that told stories. So, I started sneaking storytelling and illustration into my branding
projects instead.
On my last day at that job, a few people told me that my storytelling made my designs stand out — and I think
that was the first time I really understood what I bring to the table.
Oh, I forgot to introduce myself (like I usually do).
Hi, I’m Shweta — a recent graphic design graduate. I was a little burnt out before, but after travelling to
Hong Kong, I found my spark again. Now, I’m working on passion projects and freelancing, blending illustration,
storytelling, and branding.
I’ve always believed design isn’t just about visuals — it’s about reviving stories that once moved us. As a
child, animation taught me that stories could live through color and movement. Years later, I realized I could
bring that same wonder into branding.
